Madonna
This year I decided to combine my 12 block goal for the Crazy Quilt Journal Project (CQJP) with my $1000 pledge to the Alzheimer Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI).  Each month I will be hand embroidering and embellishing a block (9" x 12") for credit with CQJP and then sending it to the AAQI for sale or auction.

Yesterday I mocked up the 12 blocks.  I developed collage styled blocks for this year and I challenged myself to use some oddball pieces of embroidery I had saved or that had been given to me.  I also worked through a packet of little prom dress fabrics.  It was great fun & today I'll baste pieces to the background to hold them more securely.
Next up will be finished my Sewing Journal blocks from 2012.

    1. The skull & the Madonna are sitting on prom dress sample pieces.

My Madonna pieces sell well for the Alz Initiative so that is a good place to send those pieces. This is the 1st time I've thought about doing a skull embroidery for Alz so we'll see how it sells. If it sells well, I have a whole cache of skulls I would like to do.

  2. The first and last are my favs. I also like the arrangements of the fabrics on the 2nd piece. Eight more to go I guess? Nice way to work out some ideas.
