Deborah's Friendship Star Quilt

I love this kind of quilt!  It's so cozy and so welcoming-like outstretched arms.  This is a top Deborah gave me at the Houston Quilt Festival.  We had swapped some scraps so when it came back, I still had enough of the blue for a nice border.  It was fun looking at the prints she combined.  For the solid squares I did a little handwriting quilting.  It was so fun that I think I'll be doing more of that in my donation quilts.  Thanks Deborah!  Love teamwork!

It always tickles me to have a great backing for these tops already in my stash.  Here's a thrifted sheet perfect for the backing.  As I was pressing it, I discovered 2 small holes.  I was so thankful I had decided to look more closely before I put it on the frame.  A few seams later and it was ready for service.

Have a Thankful Day, Y'All!

  2. This is maybe my second favorite pattern. Love the colors-they are really pretty and soft. Very clever with the writing too. I could see more of that.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Wes. Have a good day today:)

  4. That's so cool to have the writing in the quilting. And this is pretty top, I like how the stars almost seem to play hide & seek with your eyes.

  5. The writing looks great. As I look at the back I wondered if you could reverse load it on the frame and follow the outline of a print like the sheet? I guess it would be too labor intensive on these quick pieces for donation but on a keeper or possibly smaller piece it might be very nice.

The hummingbird looks as though it took forever to do. Worth every minute. Just beautiful.

Hope your turkey day was a good one.
